President William Samoei Ruto’s journey from humble beginnings to the presidency of the Republic of Kenya is a story of determination, resilience and faith.
Born and raised in humble circumstances, President Ruto knows the aspirations and challenges of ordinary Kenyan families. As a young man, he sold chickens by the roadside to make a living. Through education, hard work and a determination to serve, he rose through public life, taking on increasingly greater responsibilities and ultimately becoming President of the Republic of Kenya.
His journey has shaped a simple but powerful belief: that Kenya’s future should be built by giving every citizen the opportunity to work, earn a living, build a business and provide a better life for their family. It is a belief rooted in his own experience and one that has defined his political journey.
As President, he has placed this philosophy at the centre of his economic agenda through the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), with a focus on expanding opportunity for farmers, small businesses, young people, low income households and millions of Kenyans working in the informal economy.
President Ruto has also championed the Broad-Based Government as a model of inclusive leadership, bringing Kenyans and political leaders together to work beyond the traditional winner-takes-all approach to governance.
As Kenya looks to the future, President Ruto remains committed to transforming the economy, strengthening national unity and creating a country where every Kenyan has the opportunity to rise, prosper and realise their full potential.
THE FIRST LADY
Her Excellency Mama Rachel Ruto, First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, is an educator, development advocate and champion of women and children whose public work is centred on empowering families and strengthening communities.
A teacher by profession, she holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Kenyatta University and a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Her experience in education and community development has shaped a strong belief that lasting national transformation begins with people — particularly women and children — having the opportunity, support and resources to build better lives.
Through her work with MaMa Doing Good and the Joyful Women Organization (JOYWO), she has championed women's economic empowerment and financial inclusion, particularly through table banking and initiatives that help women build sustainable livelihoods. Her Voice of Children Initiative places children's provision, protection and participation at the centre of her advocacy, while her work on school meals seeks to advance children's nutrition, health and education.
She has also become a leading advocate for clean cooking, environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture, linking these issues to better health, food security, climate resilience and economic opportunity for families. At the continental level, she serves on the Steering Committee of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development, contributing to efforts to advance women's leadership, health, education and economic inclusion across Africa.
As First Lady, Mrs. Rachel Ruto continues to use her platform to champion a Kenya where women are empowered, children are nurtured and protected, and families and communities have the opportunity to thrive.

KITHURE KINDIKI
Abra K. Fire Man. Noma Si Noma. Goliath Slayer. Deputy President.
Prof. Abraham Kithure Kindiki is a scholar, lawyer and seasoned public servant whose career has been defined by competence, discipline and a commitment to public service. From academia and legal practice, he rose to become Senator for Tharaka-Nithi, Majority Leader of the Senate and Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, before assuming office as Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya in 2024.
Throughout his public career, Prof. Kindiki has earned a reputation for measured leadership, constitutionalism and a strong focus on results. His experience in law, legislation, national security and government administration has given him a broad understanding of both the institutions of government and the responsibilities of public leadership.
As Deputy President, he plays a central role in supporting the President, coordinating government functions and advancing the national development agenda. He brings to the role a commitment to national unity, peace, security and inclusive development, while remaining firmly aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
Prof. Kindiki represents a generation of leadership that places competence and delivery at the centre of public service. Together with President William Ruto and the broader team, he remains committed to building a more united, secure and prosperous Kenya.
THE YOUTH LEADER
Dr. Oburu Oginga is a veteran of Kenya’s democratic journey and a seasoned political leader with more than five decades of public life. As the elder brother of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga and son of Kenya’s first Vice President, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, he comes from a family deeply rooted in Kenya’s struggle for democracy, justice and social progress. His own leadership, however, has been shaped by experience, pragmatism and a commitment to institutional governance.
As Party Leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Dr. Oburu provides continuity at an important moment in the party’s history. An economist by training, he brings extensive public service and institutional experience, with a belief that political leadership must translate into practical results for Kenyans.
His approach is grounded in dialogue, coalition building and consensus. He believes Kenya can move beyond permanent political divisions by finding common ground in the national interest. This conviction underpins his support for the Broad-Based Government as a path beyond the traditional winner-takes-all approach, toward more inclusive governance, national unity and shared responsibility.
Dr. Oburu believes ODM must continue to evolve, preserving its historic commitment to democracy, social justice and equality while embracing the responsibilities of governance, policy implementation and national transformation. With experience and measured leadership, he is helping guide ODM into its next chapter and contribute to a united, stable and prosperous Kenya.
MUSALIA MUDAVADI
MaDVD. Earthquake. The Phantom.
Dr. Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi is one of Kenya’s most experienced statesmen, with more than three decades of public service spanning economic management, government, politics and diplomacy. A land economist by training, he has served in numerous Cabinet portfolios, as Vice-President and Deputy Prime Minister, and today serves as Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
Throughout his public life, Mudavadi has built a reputation for measured leadership, pragmatism and institutional thinking. His experience in economic management has shaped a strong belief in sound policy, responsible governance and an economy that creates opportunity and improves the lives of Kenyans.
He has also played an important role in moments when Kenya needed dialogue and political accommodation. During the National Dialogue and Reconciliation process following the 2007–2008 post-election crisis, he served as a negotiator in the talks that helped bring the country together. His approach to politics has consistently favoured engagement, consensus and national stability over confrontation.
As a senior member of the Broad-Based Government, Dr. Mudavadi brings experience, balance and a strong commitment to national unity. He believes Kenya is best served when leaders work across political and regional divides to pursue shared national interests and build a more stable, prosperous and united country.
MOSES WETANGULA
Rt. Hon. Moses Masika Wetang’ula, is one of Kenya’s most experienced political and parliamentary leaders, with a public career spanning more than three decades. A lawyer by training, he has served as a Member of Parliament, Senator for Bungoma, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Trade, and today serves as Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya.
Throughout his career, Wetang’ula has been a strong advocate of parliamentary democracy, constitutionalism and inclusive national leadership. His experience across government and Parliament has given him a deep understanding of the institutions of the Republic and the importance of dialogue and consensus in advancing the national interest.
As Speaker, he has played a central role in guiding the work of the National Assembly and strengthening its legislative role. His long experience in coalition politics has also made him an important voice in Kenya’s continuing search for political cooperation and national cohesion.
As a senior member of the Broad-Based Government, Rt. Hon. Wetang’ula brings parliamentary experience, political maturity and a strong commitment to national unity. He remains focused on building a Kenya where political leadership transcends regional and partisan divisions and where Parliament and government work together to advance the interests of all Kenyans.

THE STATESMAN
Former ODM Party Leader and Prime Minister. The Enigma. The People’s President.
The late Raila Amolo Odinga was a statesman of rare stature whose enduring love for Kenya was matched by an unwavering belief in the promise of Project Kenya: a united, prosperous and democratic nation. Throughout his long public life, he became one of the country’s foremost champions of democratic reform, political pluralism and constitutional advancement.
Raila believed deeply in a Kenya that rose above ethnic loyalties and political divisions. A pragmatic leader, he understood that nation building often requires compromise and was willing to forge broad alliances, including with former political adversaries, whenever he believed they served the national interest.
Time and again, particularly during periods of political tension and after contentious elections, he chose dialogue, reconciliation and national stability over confrontation. He understood that political competition should never come at the expense of the country’s long term peace and cohesion, and repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to place Kenya above personal ambition.
In his final political chapter, Baba entrusted his legacy to the Broad-Based Government, choosing cooperation over confrontation and seeking to advance the principles of unity, inclusivity and shared responsibility that had defined his public life.
We honour a leader whose vision extended beyond the politics of his time and whose devotion to a better Kenya never wavered. His legacy lives on in the continuing pursuit of a united, democratic and prosperous nation.
